Vinted

We’d seen ads for Vinted for a long time on TV, and done nothing. We’d tried eBay to sell household “junk” and stuff we thought others might want. Facebook Marketplace gets an outing when we have something with value that is too big to post. However, Vinted has provided a steady stream of income simply by selling old clothes, toys, books and other things we might have otherwise taken to the skip. What we might consider to be old, now useless items can be someone else’s treasure!

The buyer pays postage and this is all well established and set so there’s no haggling or ambiguiety. In a couple of years of using this we have also only had one major issue with someone challenging something they bought - the majority of people seem genuine. So what have we sold? Pretty much everything and anything - here’s some examples and how it adds up:

  • Purses - £3-£5.

  • Old wooden toys - £25.

  • Baby sleepbags x5 - £15.

  • Kids fancy dress outfits - £2-£6.

  • Shoes that are too small -£5.

  • An old Amazon tablet (fully working) - £32.

  • Kids jackets (now too small) - £4-6.

We use some simple packaging off Amazon (about £5 for a pack of 100), and also save incoming boxes, shoe boxes and amazon parcels to reuse, which keeps postage costs at our end down. You can set it up so that you only offer postage services where you can print the labels in the shops as well, which means you don’t even need a printer.

Proof is in the pudding - this is Jan-Feb 2025 earnings from a bit of a post Christmas clear out - this could currently get us some return flights to Ireland for a weekend.

As always with these sites there’s a referral link to get everyone a little bonus: VINTED Referral.
